Panarea
The island of Panarea, like the other Aeolian Islands, is of volcanic origin. It is the smallest among them, but it is also the oldest: historical finds show that the island was inhabited since prehistoric times. Panarea’s center is truly a pleasant place to visit because of its narrow alleys and the blue sea that you can admire walking around the streets of the island. Despite just 200 people live here, Panarea has lots of tourist establishments such as hotels and restaurants. A must visit is the prehistoric village of Capo Milazzese, a very important archaeological site on the island.
Vulcano
The island of Vulcano is one of the closest to Sicily and stretches over an area of 21 km2. This makes it very easy and fast to visit. The island is named after the Roman divinity Vulcan, who was the god who forged weapons for all the deities and ruled fire. On the island you can breathe the characteristic sulfur smell, coming from the imposing volcano that today rests undisturbed like a sleeping giant. A visit to the interior will reveal suggestive panoramas and landscapes, as well as the view of the Gran Cratere (Giant Crater) of the sleeping volcano. On the island it will also be possible to do baths with the natural mud having healing properties.
Lipari
The largest island of the Aeolian archipelago is Lipari. On the island there are several services as well as an archaeological museum that can be visited inside the island’s Castle. Important relics are preserved in the museum and this makes the property one of the most important across the Mediterranean sea. Get to the highest point and enjoy a breathtaking view from above.
Stromboli
The fame of the island of Stromboli is all due to its fearsome volcano, Iddu, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The island features an impervious beauty thanks to its panoramas that remain embedded in memory. There are also two villages around Stromboli plus a tiny village that can only be reached by sea. Also worth seeing is Strombolicchio, a characteristic rocky spur-shaped island inside which you can see a lighthouse.
On board Mini Cruises you can visit these suggestive islands even at night time, thanks to the Stromboli By Night trip allowing you to admire the “sciara di fuoco”, a steep slope.
